10 Things I'm Thankful For

1. #Hashtags
Because if you know me at all, you know that I hashtag on twitter, I pointlessly hashtag on facebook, and I even hashtag irl. Hashtaging out loud started off as an obnoxious joke, but then it just sort of stuck. I use it as a way to summarize my sentences, I use it for emphasis, EMPHASIS, and I even just use it as a sort of filler word when I don't know what else to say. #Hashtags have made a delightful addition tp my lexicon and for that I'm forever #thankful.

2. Women's Suffrage

Can you believe it hasn't even been 100 years since we've had the right to vote!?! My badass foresisters fought for their right to vote and for my right to vote and I could seriously cry thinking about it. While in 2013 the subject of gay marriage has been up for debate, it seems to obvious to me that all people should have equal rights, especially to a drunk vegas marriage (if Britney can, everybody should be able to, okay?)

Alice Paul worked her buns off in jail, doing hunger strikes and finally after the suffragettes fought the damn good fight, it became a law protected by the 19th amendment. Alice Paul wasn't the only badass to be thankful for, Sourjourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Helen Keller, and Ida B. Wells were some of the other badasses helped give us our rights and really were at the forefront of feminism and we should forever be thankful for them.

3. Public access to contraceptives
Similar to women's suffrage, there were some MAJOR badasses who were behind getting contraceptives into the US and any country. I, for the life of me, will never understand, why religious asshats didn't understand that sex wasn't only for reproduction but also for pleasure AND THERE AINT NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT (as long as it's consensual duh).

Now there are like a MILLION different forms of contraceptives and while they may not all be free, many you can find for free, check out bedsider.org cause this website is something I am definitely thankful for.

4. Wilma Pearl Mankiller

Wilma Pearl Mankiller is a name you may not have heard of, but you really should. She was the first female chief of the Cherokee nation and she held her own in a male dominated government. She was a total badass and ran that shit, founding the Cherokee Nation Community Development Department and working to revive tribal schools which resulting in an increase of Cherokee national citizens. She also wrote a best selling autobiography and I think its important to not forget those whose ancestors were completely exploited, raped and had their land pillaged and stolen by white ancestors including my own. I'm so thankful and deeply sorry.

5. "Selfies" now "Selfys"
Aka pictures of yourself, taken by yourself. Because in the words Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend, "I think anybody who's anti-selfie is really just a hater. Because, truthfully, why shouldn't people take pictures of themselves? When I'm on Instagram and I see that somebody took a picture of themselves, I'm like, "Thank You," I don't need to see a picture of the sky, the trees, plants. There's only one you." Ugh he's dreamy, anyway he reminded me that I need to believe in my selfies because who else will? I'm thankful for selfies because they have taught me that I need to look cute everyday and that I need to work my angles.

6. Wifi
Ugh. I'm thankful for wifi pretty much every day of my life. And if it werent for wifi you wouldn't be reading this right now.

7. Zayn Malik

With the pipes of an angle and a jaw-line reminiscent of a Greek God, Zayn Malik has wormed his way into my heart faster than Taco Bell's cool ranch Doritos Locos tacos! If you don't know who I'm talking about you must not own a TV, a computer (how are you reading this?) or never been to Las Vegas because evidently One Direction is always playing everywhere you go. Zayn Malik is a member of the X-factor created British boyband One Direction. Their latest album Midnight Memories just dropped the other day and to say I'm excited is an understatement. Midnight Memories is the single best thing to happen to me since they decided to not cancel the hostess twinkie! He's the best and the album is great and I just can't. also click here to read more about my love for boybands.

8. Coffee
Girl, what do you think I operate on? Without coffee I would be a zombie about 100% of the time. Coffee is what gets me up in the morning and through my day. Coffee is like a liquid pep-talk that tells me "Don't worry Caelan, today will be okay" and kisses me on the forehead while simultaneously kicking me in the butt, giving me enough energy to last through a day of total and utter bullshit. I'm so thankful for coffee above all things.

Without you guys I would literally be so lonely and sad. I don't know if you guys realize what you mean to me as friends and supporters and just overall awesome people, I'm nearing the eve of my third blogger birthday and without yall I don't know what I'd do! I really am thankful for every comment, every facebook like or tumblr reblog and just every single one of you, so if you are reading this right now I LOVE YOUUUU!

10. My Family, DURR
I guess I'm thankful for this support system that has provided me love, happiness, infinite jokes and the occasional cry session. Since I'm the youngest I was lucky to be born into this awesome tribe that believes in me, and wants the best for me and you know, extends their wardrobe to me.

and on that note, I've eaten till I'm full and till I can't eat no more
Have a great thanksgiving pussycats,
Please keep it thankful
