A Fox is a Wolf That Sends Flowers

I want to begin this post with a dialogue between the dysfunctional magical star crossed lovers Harold and Maude in the film Harold and Maude.

This scene takes place in a field of daisies on a beautiful sunny day.

Maude:  I should like to change into a sunflower most of all. They're so tall and simple. What flower would you like to be?
Harold:I don't know. One of these, maybe.
Maude:Why do you say that?
Harold: Because they're all alike
Maude: Oooh, but they're *not*. Look. See, some are smaller, some are fatter, some grow to the left, some to the right, some even have lost some petals. All *kinds* of observable differences. You see, Harold, I feel that much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are *this*,

[she points to a daisy]
Maude: yet allow themselves be treated as *that*.

I love this scene so much for so many reasons. It reiterates (and forgive me for the hippy dippy phrase I'm about to say) how beautiful and special we all are and how life really is to short to be normal, ordinary and life is especially to short to think you are that way #YOLO.

I've always been completely enamored by flowers, as a young child everytime we played make believe I was always a fairy spirit with names such as: Rose, Lilly, Chrysanthemum, Tulip, Violet, Sunflower, Lavander etc until one day my sister said "NO FLOWER NAMES THIS TIME"....growing up with three older sisters was hard. :/

In an addition to my infinity for floral names this obvious was my most favorite scene in any disney movie ever. I hope my following statement wont make you think I'm on psychedelic drugs  but when I see flowers, I always think of these, each little flower has its own spirit...okay i'm a hippie, I'm from Maui...sue me!! I'm just a 19-year-old Maude!

Regardless of my modern metropolitan ways, I am always a woodland girl at heart, I miss picking thorns off rose stems in my mothers rose bush, I miss sucking on honey suckle, I miss the morning dew on the 4 acres of farmland, I simply miss it all.

Some might consider me fair and quite contraire
but I simply see myself simply as a flower
a forget-me-not for that matter
At first I was hesitant to maxi skirts, especially sheer American Apparel one layer chiffons, but I bought this as part of my little mermaid halloween costume, so I thought I might as well get some use out of it!
I layered it over a short floral skirt from Forever21 and paired it with my Coheed and Cambria shirt from Hot Topic....What can I say, I must quote Kurt Cobain in saying "teenage angst has paid off well,"
And I paired the ensemble with of course my favorite shoes from Urban Outfitters

And a flower crown I made ala Tavi G!

This flower crown was super simple to make and much too fun.
Flowers remind me that life is beautiful, life is special and that every flower and person is unique in their own magical way so why not wear them on your head!?!
Forget-me-nots are my favorite because not only are they small and timid but the message, the constant reminder to not be forgotten, I hope I'm never forgotten!

If you could be a flower what would you be?

Have a lovely day my beautiful buds,
and please
keep it sassy

  1. Ohh love your maxi and the quote at the beginning, hmmm what flower would I like to be>? it's a toughie xx

  2. I've always loved tulips, but I guess I wouldn't really be one. They're probably too refined and elegant for me. I would have to be some sort of wild, bushy, colorful flower. I love flowers too. I used to tear pictures of them out of "Martha Stewart Living" and tape them all over my walls. Also I really need to make one of these crowns!!

  3. Great photos! I love your floral crown :)

  4. I always liked to be a... well, a daisy. They are so simple and at the same time so elegant...
Your floral crown is really cute!!
